About

Sheldon Fernandes is the Principal and Founder of Tidalbreak Climate, and has been working at the intersection of climate, business, and government across Canada and occasionally beyond since 2012. Sheldon’s specialized proficiency is developing technical understanding via GHG accounting and on-site groundwork, applying a policy lens to technical problems through carbon market, regulatory, and financial analysis, and ultimately scoping out the key learnings and path forwards for clients from a strategic perspective. Sheldon has led GHG accounting-related training for multiple government agencies and educational institutions.

Outside of his career-related pursuits, Sheldon is constantly on the search for the next big adventure, whether trudging through swamps searching for wildlife in the Amazon, carving clean lines in the mountains of Western Canada, or performing the occasional stand up set. Sheldon is also co-host of Eco Echoes, a podcast focused on the intersection of climate and business issues, designed for the casual listener.

Sheldon is fluent in English and French, is a Professional Engineer through Engineers and Geoscientists BC, and holds an MBA from the UBC Sauder School of Business and a BASc from the University of Waterloo in Systems Design Engineering, where he first started his journey into climate.
